Lost a golf club in Florida?

Florida golf runs on a seasonal rhythm that shapes everything about lost equipment. From fall through spring the state fills with seasonal residents and visitors from the north; through the summer, play thins out and heat and afternoon storms take over. Two consequences follow. A huge share of players are here temporarily, so a club left behind in March belongs to someone who's back in Michigan by May. And the sudden afternoon thunderstorms that define Florida summers end rounds instantly — a round that finishes in a sprint to the clubhouse is a round where things get left behind.

Where clubs go missing here

During storm evacuations, when play stops on the horn and everyone heads in at once. In seasonal rental homes, where clubs stored over a winter stay get overlooked at checkout. And in carts, universal here year-round. Visitors add a problem of their own: with so many courses within an hour of any hotel, a week here often means three or four different tracks, and afterward nobody can say for sure which one has the missing wedge.
