Cleaning & caring for golf clubs

Grips, heads, shafts – step-by-step cleaning for long-lasting clubs.

Why maintenance matters

Well-maintained clubs perform better and last longer. Dirt in the face grooves reduces spin by up to 20%. Worn grips cost control. Regular cleaning is a performance necessity.
How often should I clean my clubs?

Ideally after every round – especially the face grooves. Clean grips monthly, shafts every 3 months. Always clean completely before tournaments.

Cleaning iron heads & wedges

Materials: lukewarm water + washing-up liquid, old toothbrush, soft towel. Steps: 1. Soak heads 2–3 minutes. 2. Scrub face grooves with toothbrush. 3. Rinse with clean water. 4. Dry immediately (rust risk).
How do I best clean wedge grooves?

With a hard toothbrush or a groove sharpener tool. Clean grooves = more spin = better control around the green.

Driver & fairway wood care

Driver heads (mostly titanium or carbon): never soak. Only wipe with a damp cloth. Use headcovers.
Can I wash my driver?

Only wipe, do not soak. A damp microfibre cloth with washing-up liquid is sufficient.

Grip cleaning & replacement

Clean grips every 2–4 weeks with soapy water. Replace when shiny, cracked or slippery. Cost: €3–8 per grip.
How do I know when grips need replacing?

Test: grip firmly in the rain. If it slips, new grips are needed. Visual signs: shiny patches, cracks, hardened rubber.
